The Latin American Studies Program (LASP) strives to help graduate students recieve funding for research and travel that enhance their study of Latin American culture. Among these funding opportunities are the LASP AY 2016-17 Graduate Student Conference Travel Grant, LASP Summer Graduate Research Grant (does not include air fare), LASP Summer Intensive Language Grant.

Undergraduate and Graduate students, as applicable, may apply for The Fulbright & Fulbright Hays Fellowship, and have the opportunity to have LASP co-sponsor an event. For the cost of air fare to do summer research abroad, please check the Mario Einaudi Center Website for international travel research funding opportunities.

LASP se esfuerza para ayudar a los estudiantes para recibir ayuda financiera para proyectos y viajar para enriquecer sus estudios sobre Latinoamérica. Entre estas oportunidades financieras ofrecidas por LASP se encuentran la Beca de Viajes a Conferencias Academicas para estudiantes de posgrado, la Beca de Investigacion para estudiantes de posgrado en el Verano (no incluye pasajes aereos) y la Beca de Estudios de Idioma Intensivos en el Verano.

Estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado pueden aplicar tambien para las becas Fulbright y Fulbright Hays, y tambien pueden aplicar para co-organizar eventos con LASP. LASP Graduate Student Conference Grants

LASP provides up to $500 grants to fund travel to graduate students to present at conferences.  Award may only be granted once per academic year and only after graduate student applies for funding from their department and/or Graduate School.

Concurrent with submitting your LASP Graduate Student Conference Grant application to an elevated risk country (if conference is overseas, see the State Department's list) you are also required to submit a request to ITART to travel to that particular country.  In the event that you receive Einaudi travel grant funds, the award will not be released until you complete the ITART application process. If your proposal includes travel to an elevated risk country, you are strongly encouraged to have a back-up plan for your project in the event that your ITART application is denied, or if the country to which you are travelling should become an elevated risk country subsequent to receiving your travel grant.

LASP Summer Research Grants

LASP will offer up to 4 research grants (c. $2500 each) to qualified graduate students who need to conduct field research over the summer of 2017. Criteria for selection includes a substantive focus on Latin America or the Caribbean. Such grants are not intended to cover (air Fare) travel costs. If you need a grant for the cost of airfare, please apply for an Einaudi Center International Research Travel Grant. The grants are competitive. Applicants are asked to provide: 1) a proposal of the work to be undertaken, 2) including a detailed budget, 3) a tentative itinerary/schedule, and 4) a list previous and current grant monies received, as part of the online application process, 5) a faculty recommendation from within the applicant’s area of study. The Summer Research Award amount is $2,500.
